The GM1600SC 71 GMDSS VHF Radio, equipped with a BP-234 Battery, is a handheld device designed for GMDSS-compliant survival craft communications. This radio is engineered to withstand and function in extreme environmental conditions that are common in marine emergencies, and it brings the latest Search and Rescue technology to the marketplace.

The GM1600SC's shock-resistant housing is constructed of brightly colored dye-injected polymer, ensuring that this essential piece of emergency equipment will always be easy to locate in a survival bag, life raft, or any other place where quick access is necessary.

This survival craft radio meets temperature, thermal shock, vibration, and drop-resistant (from 1 m height) requirements. After passing these environmental tests, the GM1600SC sustains a 1m depth waterproof construction specified with IMO resolutions A.809(19), A.694(17), and IEC 61097-12. The BP-234 battery can operate even at –4ºF.

The GM1600SC is designed for easy operation, with all knobs sized for quick operation, and the large, well-labeled buttons featuring a positive action "feel" with a programmable beep tone for sure operation. The front panel includes one-touch access to Channel 16 and the call channel.

Additional features of the GM1600SC include operation instructions printed on the rear panel, the ability to operate with one hand, a bright LED indicator on the top of the panel, and an optional VOX headset for on-board use.
